Sudan Girls Advance to State Title Game

Playing at 8:30 a.m. in the Class 1A Division I State Semifinals in Austin, the #2 Sudan Hornettes awoke from a slow start to knock off #5 Thorndale 56-44 and move into the title game Saturday morning at 8:30 a.m.

With the early game time start, both teams came out slow with the first quarter ending in a 4-4 tie. Thorndale took a 5 point lead in the third, but Sudan pulled away in the 4th scoring 25 points in the final quater to pull away from Thorndale to win in their first trip to Austin in 13 years.

Jacey Davidson led the way with 26 points. Brittany Williams chipped in 14  as Thorndale committed 21 turnovers. Sudan has won 4 State title with their last coming back in 1995.

#2 Sudan is now 34-4 and will play either #1 Martin's Mill or #4 Lindsay in the title. The Nettes have won 17 in a row. NewsChannel 11 is in Austin and will have complete Hoop Madness Coverage tonight on the NewsChannel 11 at Six and Ten.
