Busy Night for Lubbock Fire Department

The Lubbock Fire Marshal's Office is investigating at least three fires that broke out early Thursday evening.

A grass fire in the alley of the 5400 Block of 74th Street spread to a fence around 4:30pm. Firefighters put it out quickly, but investigators believe it was intentionally set.

Just an hour later, a house fire brought firefighters to 29th and Milwaukee. Investigators say items in a backyard storage building caught fire and the flames spread to the neighboring house. Crews doused the fire before it destroyed the home, and everyone was able to get out safely. Officials believe this fire was an accident.

And, finally the fire marshal's office says a fire at Lubbock Labs Inc. at 201 Paris Avenue was also accidental. The building is being re-roofed and we're told the material caught fire around 7:30pm. The company does testing and engineering for construction materials.
