Delwin Jones
Joe HnatekIt appears Delwin Jones will defeat his Republican opponent for the District 83 State Representative seat.
At 80% of voting tabulated, Jones had 64% of the vote and his opponent, Dr. Joe Hnatek, had 36%.
Jones credits strong voter turnout for his place in the polls.
"Of course with the big turnout and a strong 60% vote margin, I feel real complicated and proud that West Texas still supports their conservative basic philosophy that I try to represent in Austin," Jones said.
Hnatek had this to say about Tuesday's results.
"To enter a race like this knowing that it's gonna be very difficult to unseat the incumbent, you really don't know how things are going to turn out. You know? The Giants beat the Patriots," Hnatek joked.
Jones will face a Libertarian opponent in November.
