Autopsies Completed Following Deadly Fire in East Lubbock

Smoke inhalation is responsible for the deaths of an East Lubbock mother and her three year old son.

Firefighters pulled Alisha Loftis, 35, and her son, Gianna Shelby from the burning home in the 1700 block of East 31st Street Tuesday. EMS rushed them to University Medical Center where both were pronounced dead.

The cause of the fire is still under investigation. Authorities can not confirm that there were any working smoke detectors inside the home.
