On Saturday, March 8, Quail Ridge Alzheimer Special Care Center staff, family and friends are tying on their aprons to help out a great cause. Quail Ridge is hosting a Chili Cook-off to benefit Hearts & Hooves of Lubbock, featuring live music from Grand Old Country and entertainment by Incredibounce. Teams of four can register for $20 to compete and the winning team will receive prizes and the coveted, Chili Bowl. The festival and contest will be held at Quail Ridge, 5204 Elgin Avenue.
Chili Cook-off teams can set up and prepare their winning recipes starting at 10:00 a.m. Tasting begins Saturday at 12:00 p.m. and continues until 1:30 p.m. Winners will be decided by the number of votes received by tasters, and each vote is $1. The awards ceremony will begin promptly at 2:00 p.m.
Hearts & Hooves of Lubbock brings miniature horses indoors to people who need therapeutic healing. These horses provide therapy and loving support to children and adults who have experienced emotional and physical abuse, severe illness, and all forms of disability. Two pit bulls attacked the miniature horses in late January, and the local organization has suffered terrible losses including the passing of Oreo and Jolly, as well as mounting veterinary expenses.
Everyone is welcome to attend and help us support Hearts and Hooves of Lubbock. Teams of four can register today, by contacting Jessica Hallmark at (806) 788-1919.
