Thursday was a big day for Texas Tech's newest doctors. It's called "Match Day" and it's celebrated nationwide at 125 different medical schools. Forty-one 4th-year students of the Texas Tech Medical School opened their envelopes together this morning to find out where each will continue their studies as residents.
The state of Texas will keep 63% of those 4th-year students, but some will go as far away as the Mayo Clinic, Johns Hopkins University, and Vanderbilt University. Thankfully, 15 have decided to continue their studies right here in Lubbock at the Texas Tech Health Science Center.
Congratulations from NewsChannel 11 to our newest doctors in training.
