This is National Poison Prevention Week. So, it's a good time to make sure that your pesticides and household cleaning products are out of reach of children or in a locked cabinet.
That's good advice from the Environmental Protection Agency. According to the EPA, the U.S. Poison Control center gets a call every 13 seconds about an unintentional poisoning. That translates to about 2 million incidents a year involving kids under the age of six. -- 80,000 of those emergency calls are about kids getting into pesticides or cleaners.
The EPA strongly encourages parents and caregivers to keep these products up high, out of your child's reach, or use safety locks on any cabinets that contain toxins.
