According to a new survey from the University of Washington, talking to your teen about sex and pregnancy doesn't mean it's going to happen. Researchers found that the teens that got comprehensive sex education were much more likely to avoid a pregnancy than those who received "abstinence only" information or nothing at all.
The study, published in the in April 2008 issue of The Journal of Adolescent Health, found a 60% reduction in teen pregnancies among those who took a sex ed class, with no increase in std's or intercourse among that group. .
The survey included responses from more than 1700 teens.
