The NCAA granted a waiver filed by Texas Tech on behalf of football transfer Chris Perry, making the former Miami Hurricane immediately eligible to participate in the fall. The Keller, Texas, native transferred to Texas Tech in January.
Per NCAA rules, a student-athlete that transfers from one FBS institution to another must sit out a full season before being eligible to play. Citing personal reasons for transferring, Texas Tech filed a waiver to the NCAA last week asking the organization to consider Perry's request.
The 6-foot-3, 310-pound defensive tackle signed with Miami last year and sat out as a redshirt in the fall. He will have four years to play at Texas Tech.
