Golden Algae Killing Fish at Buffalo Springs Lake

Be cautious of the fish at Buffalo Springs Lake. Management says Golden Algae is responsible for a number of dead fish there.

Golden Algae is common in spring. It produces a toxin that affects the gill function of fish. It is not harmful to humans or other wildlife but experts say people should stay away from the dead or dying fish, just to be safe.
