The Lubbock State School is back in the spotlight, but it's good news. State representatives were in Lubbock Monday afternoon to tour the state school.
Three years ago the U.S. Department of Justice investigated the state school after the death of 17 patients in an 18 month period. Monday's tour is to give lawmaker's an idea of what legislation is needed to prevent similar deaths.
State Representative Larry Phillips from Sherman says the point of the visit is "to make sure that those residents that are here are safe, protected, and that this is a good environment for them to be in." Phillips also said that he is very pleased with the Lubbock facility overall.
