Lubbock Watering Restrictions Now in Effect

Water restrictions go into effect April 1st that ban outdoor watering between the hours of 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. The restrictions are part of the City's irrigation ordinance which applies from April 1st to September 30th each year, and are meant to minimize evaporation and conserve water.

Violators of the ordinance may be fined up to $500. Exceptions are allowed for newly planted grass or landscaping, soaker hoses, and watering by hand.

Lubbock is also currently in Stage 1 of the Water Conservation and Drought Contingency Plan which restricts watering to two days per week with 1.5 inches of water per area of the yard. Significant runoff should be avoided while watering lawns.
