Two Accidents at Same Intersection, One Hour Apart

Posted:

A morning accident in central Lubbock sent one person to the hospital. Police say 20-year-old Matthew Chapa was traveling north on Slide Road around 1:30 a.m. Tuesday morning. They say he lost control of his car, at 26th Street, and hit a metal pole. He continued driving and hit a wooden pole.

EMS took him to the hospital with moderate injuries. LP&L was called to the scene to fix the light poles.

About an hour later at the same intersection, 25-year-old Nicole Jauregui ran into a police car, as the officer was directing traffic after the first accident. There were no reports of injuries, but Jauregui was arrested for Driving While Intoxicated.
