Governor Perry Visits Texas Tech University

The governor's visit to Lubbock Tuesday meant a lot of money for Texas Tech University.

Governor Rick Perry and AT&T representatives announced a total $9 million in donations to Texas Tech's College of Engineering nanophotonics program.

"The nanophotonics research program here at Texas Tech is going to move our state toward the very front of the pack," said Governor Perry.

The research will be significant in many areas, including Homeland Security, telecommunications, and the future of commercial and residential lighting.

Texas Tech wasn't Perry's only Lubbock stop either. The governor signed copies of his newly released book at Barnes and Noble as well. The book is titled "On My Honor: Why the American Values of the Boy Scouts are Worth Fighting For."
