Some Lubbock Independent School District students are on cloud nine after the state Destination Imagination tournament.
The kido's arrived home Sunday afternoon after the state tournament in Round Rock this weekend. Five teams from LISD will move on to the global competition in May at the University of Tennessee.
The advancing students are from Lubbock High School, Murfee Elementary and O.L. Slaton Middle School.
"Just an incredible experience for the children. They go and compete with teams from all over the world. So it's a neat opportunity for them to meet kids from other places, and just a lot of creativity in one place at one time; just an incredible experience," Kathy Rollo, Murfee Elementary Principal said.
The team from Lubbock High School has gone to the global tournament five times, and "The Pineballs", as they call themselves, say their destination this year is first place.
"We're the first Lubbock High team to go onto globals so we're very excited!"
"It's just a love for working together, and we like having challenges and solving them."
Destination Imagination is a program involving 2,000 students from across the country. The students have to creatively problem solve their way through different situations - some planned and others improvised.
The global tournament will be held at the University of Tennessee from May 22 - May 25.
