American Airlines has now canceled more than 1,000 flights Wednesday for wiring inspections. The airline says the flights would have averaged more than 100 passengers, meaning that more than 100,000 travelers could be scrambling to book new flights.
American's chief executive is apologizing, and promising to do "whatever it takes" to help affected customers.
So far, only one American Airlines flight has been cancelled in Lubbock. Some passengers got a lucky break and were able to switch airlines.
"We got good luck and we got bad luck because we got the last two seats on Continental," said Andreas Schneider. "Yeah!"
Lubbock Preston Smith International Airport officials could not confirm whether the flight was cancelled due to weather or inspections.
