FDA officials now say there have been 103 reports of patient deaths while taking the drug heparin since January of 2007.
Heparin is a blood thinning drug often used before surgery. Many heparin products have been recalled due to product contamination.
Although it's still not known if all those deaths were linked to the contaminated product, the FDA says it appears 62 of them were linked to an allergic reaction or symptoms of extremely low blood pressure - the same side effects that triggered the recall in the first place.
