Slaton Father Charged With Intoxication Manslaughter

Police say the Slaton man who backed over his daughter, and then flipped his car on the way to the hospital last month was drunk at the time of both accidents.

The toddler, 1-year-old Shiann, was allegedly riding in her uncle's lap, when another vehicle pulled out in front of her father's Trans Am on the Slaton highway. Their car rolled several times and the baby girl was thrown out. She died three hours later.

An autopsy revealed that Shiann probably died from the injuries she sustained in her driveway and not the rollover.

Thursday, 24-year-old Juan Garcia was charged with intoxication manslaughter, in connection with his daughter's death.
