If you read Health Magazine, you might have been intrigued by its recent review of 96 restaurant chains looking for whole grains, low-fat and low-sodium choices on the menu.
The list included 43 sit-down chains and 53 fast food spots. It's no surprise that our favorite restaurants include items generally loaded with cheese and fat. But what we need to remember, according to most dietitians, is that you can find something healthy just about anywhere you go. It's all about substitutions.
Dietitian Amy Goodson says, "Ask if you can get an entree grilled instead of fried, if you can substitute a salad or veggie instead of french-fries, and ask for a marinara sauce instead of a white, creamy, thick sauce."
