A true yoga practice extends far beyond the boundaries of your sticky mat to include the community around you (in yoga the term for community is Sangha). Karma yoga, or participation with and service to others, is a great opportunity to take your yoga practice "off-the-mat." The following are events being supported by Lubbock Yoga, although are not directly affiliated. Questions should be directed towards the appropriate parties as listed below.
There is an opportunity during the summer months for you to participate in feeding some of the homeless in Lubbock.
A group of people associated with St. Stephen's Episcopal Church joined together last year to provide Saturday Suppers to Saint Benedict's Chapel and Mission at 1109 B Main Street in downtown Lubbock. This Mission was formed and is under the supervision of Fr. Barry A. Ferguson. Please refer to reformedcatholicchurch.org more information on Fr. Barry and the Mission.
During the months of June, July and August, the original group of cooks will be providing hot, nutritious meals on the 1st, 2nd and 3rd Saturdays of each month. There is a need for the 4th and 5th (this applies to June and August only) Saturdays of each summer month. If you would like to be a part of this on-going ministry please contact Fr. Barry Ferguson, 806-543-5182 and offer your time and talents. Fr. Barry will be able to answer all your questions regarding the quantity of food needed by you and the time to deliver your meal on Saturdays.
Thank you for considering this opportunity to make a difference in the lives of the men and women who are served by St. Benedict's Mission. Saturday suppers are one of the few hot meals received by those individuals during the week.
And, finally, Lubbock Yoga is offering automatic renewal of your Monthly and Monthly Plus pass when you pay by credit or debit card. Please stop by the front desk for more information.
