Food for Thought Report 4.17

Posted:

Dessert is at the top of the menu this week, and when it comes to indulging in ice cream we dip right in. Dippin' Dots inside the South Plains Mall is a repeat top performer.

Our next top performer is a beauty, and a repeat one at that. Belle's Kitchen at 2013 North Ash is a drive-thru that specializes in homemade burritos and perfection.

If your palate is pleading for a big juicy burger, look no further than this repeat appearance from Christakis Burgers at 1111 34th Street.

Here is a complete list of the restaurants and their violations for the week ending on 4/17/08.

Now to our only low performer.

O'Hana Japanese Steak House at 5217 82nd Street is a multiple repeat low performer. During its latest surprise visit inspectors cited the restaurant for six critical violations.

  • Cooked beef was not cooled properly.
  • Raw chicken, raw beef and cooked rice were as high as 60 degrees. Cold food must be 41 degrees or below.
  • Bologna did not have an expiration date.
  • Soap was not available at a hand sink.
  • Toxic items were stored by food.
  • Several items in the kitchen were dirty, including: a very soiled microwave, knives, glasses and a food scale that had chicken drippings on it.

According to the restaurant, "All violations were corrected during the inspection." The report show that as well.
