Main Lanes Closed to Allow Placement of Beams on Pedestrian Bridge

A late night operation will result in a traffic detour on the Marsha Sharp Freeway this weekend.

On Friday evening, the Texas Department of Transportation (TxDOT) will close the US 82 main lanes between 19th Street and Fourth Street to allow contractors to place beams on the pedestrian bridge just east of Texas Tech Parkway.

Traffic will be detoured from 9 p.m. on Friday until 6 a.m. on Saturday. Eastbound traffic will be detoured to Texas Tech Parkway where they will turn north to Fourth Street then east to US 82 to the eastbound frontage road. Westbound traffic will be detoured west down Fourth Street to Quaker, then south back to the US 82 frontage road.

This detour is part of Phase 2 of the Marsha Sharp Freeway project. This phase is scheduled for completion in the summer of 2009.
