Cornyn Checks Out Community Development

U.S. Senator John Cornyn visited Lubbock Saturday, to check out the progress of the North and East Lubbock Community Development Corporation.  Cornyn met with folks at the King's Dominion community on Martin Luther King and Erskine Avenue.

It's one of the newest projects to rejuvenate the region. Senator Cornyn says folks have an excited and hopeful attitude, which will only benefit the effort.

"That means people will want to move here; that means retail development will come here and make it easier for people to have a place to eat or shop. It will increase the tax base in this part of Lubbock in a way that will be to the benefit of the entire community," Cornyn said.

Afterwards, Cornyn threw out the first pitch at the Texas Tech vs. Kansas State baseball game.
