Scientists Growing New Hearts from Stem Cells

There is incredible news from the Netherlands Monday, scientists there are on their way to growing a human heart.

In the past, new heart cells could only be grown from embryonic stem cells. But now, scientists have succeeded in producing stem cells from a grown human heart that grow into the cells of brand new heart muscle. And these newly developed heart muscle cells behave exactly like natural heart cells.

Researchers say that the breakthrough will help repair damaged hearts and will also aid in future procedures and in the testing of new heart medications.
