Fire Burns Pens, Barn Threatened

Firefighters from Shallowater and West Carlisle spent over an hour Tuesday afternoon battling a grass fire.

It started just after three o'clock about four miles west of Shallowater. Officials say the fire started near the road and spread through the field.

Some cattle pens were destroyed in the fire and a barn was threatened, but no one was injured. The fire was contained, but investigators are still trying to determine the cause.
