City Council Votes On Honoring Fallen Firefighters

The Lubbock City Council voted Thursday in favor of honoring those killed while fighting fires.

In a six to zero vote, the council approved criteria for naming fire stations in memory of firefighters who have died in the line of duty. The fire station numbers will remain the same, but a secondary honor name designation will be allowed.

The request for an honorary name designation must be made by a family member of a fallen firefighter. There have been six firefighters in Lubbock who have died in the line of duty.
