Car Hits 9-year-old Girl in Idalou

A 9-year-old girl is in serious condition after she was struck by a car that witnesses say was speeding down an Idalou street Friday evening.

Aero Care flew the girl to Covenant Medical Center with serious injuries. Witnesses say the girl was riding a scooter about 6:30p.m. when she was hit the car. The driver drove off, but returned to the scene in the 500 block of 7th St.

The Idalou fire chief says the closest place to land Aero Care was in a nearby football field, where dozens of kids where playing baseball. The girl's injures are not believe to be life-threatening.

Idalou police arrested the driver of the car on unrelated warrants out of Lubbock.
