Youngsters looking towards a career in law enforcement took advantage of real-life experience Saturday in Lubbock. Local authorities held the Second Annual Police Explorers Competition.
Teams from Lubbock and as far away as San Juan, took part in realistic criminal scenarios and other activities. In all, 75 explorers took part in the activities, and group leaders hope to add more next year.
"It's an excellent program for kids to interact with law enforcement, for them to get first hand experience on what it is that we do and hopefully encourage them down the road to maybe seek a career in law enforcement," Capt. Antonio Menchaca from the Lubbock County Sheriff's Office said.
