Dog Euthanized in Apparent Mix Up at Lubbock Animal Shelter

A Lubbock pet owner is mourning the loss of her dog, following an apparent mix up at the Lubbock Animal Shelter.

"I told her I would return probably Monday to get him and pay her. And she said okay," said Meagan Allen. "I go home and about four and a half to five hours later, they give me a call and say that they have bad news, they mistakenly euthanized my dog."

"It was an unfortunate miscommunication situation," said Kevin Overstreet, Director of Lubbock Animal Services. "We'll do whatever it takes to make things right."

Overstreet encourages pet owners to keep their animals in a secure environment. However, if your pet goes missing, be sure to check with Lubbock Animal Services as soon as possible.
