Demolition has begun on the future site of the Lubbock visitor center.
Crews started tearing down the old South Beach building Wednesday located at 19th Street and Crickets Avenue. Just last Thursday, the Lubbock City Council officially voted to build the visitor center at the South Beach location.
The council also voted to lower the visitor center budget from $6.7 million to $5.9 million.

Thursday the city council voted against a motion to put the visitor center project on hold, but then approved an amendment to lower the center's budget. However, these decisions come after dozens of citizens voiced their opinions. NewsChannel 11's Julia Bruck has more.
