Cinco de Mayo Celebration Continues In Lubbock

KXTQ-FM, Magic 93.7, KSTQ-FM, Hot 104.3 & KXTQ-TV, Telemundo 46 are hosting their 18th Annual "Original" Cinco de Mayo Celebration this weekend at the South Plains Fair Grounds.  The holiday Cinco de Mayo, the 5th of May, commemorates the victory of the Mexican army over the French army at the Battle of Puebla in 1862.

On Saturday doors opened at 12:00 p.m. with performances by a Ballet Folklorico, Mariachi Mi Tierra, Local Artist Cyclon, rising artist La Conquista, multi-Tejano Music Award Winner "Lil Miss Dynamite" Shelly Lares, Grammy Award Winner Solido, and Multi-Grammy Award Winner Jimmy Gonzales, y Mazz closed out Saturday's performances. 

On Sunday, doors will open at 1:00 p.m. with performances by Lubbock's own Peligro, Massore, and closing out the 18th Annual Cinco de Mayo Celebration will be Music Icon-Grammy Award winner La Mafia.

$10 individual day passes are available at Select-A-Seat, Kings Gas at 19th & MLK, Montelongo's at 3021 Clovis Rd., Pronto Mart at 502 50th Street, and Arco Iris in Plainview.  Children 42" and under will be admitted free.
