Monday, jury selection is scheduled to start in the capital murder trial of Darold Simmons. Simmons is accused of killing 72-year old Ross Bennie Mosley. Now 20, Simmons was just 19-years old when Mosley was found face down in the front yard of a home on East Cornell Street last February.
Police found Simmons, as he was allegedly sexually assaulting a taxi driver in the back of her cab. While this is a capital murder trial, prosecutors tell NewsChannel 11 the death sentence is not an option. So, if a jury finds Simmons guilty of capital murder, he would be sentenced to life in prison.
