Cinco de Mayo celebrations continued Monday on the South Plains.
The 18th Annual Original Cinco de Mayo celebration officially kicked off Thursday at the South Plains Fairgrounds. It includes rides, food, and games.
Meanwhile, at Cactus Elementary in Levelland, students were taught about the celebration through mexican foods and activities.
"It's a fun activity we do every year about this time to educate the kids a little bit about mexican culture," said Nancy Brashear, a second grade teacher.
Cinco de Mayo commemorates the victory of the Mexican Army over the French in the Battle of Puebla in 1862.
