Starting Saturday, mail carriers across Lubbock will be picking up more than just your outgoing mail.
"This is real easy for people to participate in," said Charles Peterman. "All that we need them to do is put some canned goods or non-perishable foods in a bag next to their mailbox and the letter carriers will pick it up and take care of the rest."
The food picked up will be donated to the South Plains Food Bank for the 16th Annual Stamp Out Hunger Food Drive.
Lubbock carriers will extend their food collections for a week, through Saturday, May 17.
Plainview and Levelland also plan a collection day this Saturday.
