Lubbock voters elected a new mayor May 10th. Mayor-Elect Tom Martin will be sworn in Friday as the 34th mayor of Lubbock. The ceremony takes place at 9 a.m. Martin defeated current mayor David Miller by 21 percentage points.
We learned that Miller is the only incumbent Lubbock mayor to lose a reelection bid. We're told Miller called Martin Sunday morning to wish him and his wife the best as he becomes mayor. Martin says he's ready to step into his new role, "the first thing is to get the City Council working together and get them communicating among themselves. Second of all is to get briefed up on the status of a lot of city projects, particularly the Lake Alan Henry Pipeline Project."
From the city's finalized water plan to it's best-ever bond rating, Miller's campaign has released a list of his nine accomplishments as mayor.
