Motorcycle Accident Kills Lubbock Man

Family members are mourning the loss of Shealon Penland, after he was killed in a motorcycle accident early Saturday morning. Lubbock Police were called to the 4400 Block of 31st Street just before 2:00 a.m.  Investigators tell us Penland was driving his motorcycle west bound when he hit a parked vehicle. Penland was thrown of the bike and propelled down the street.

The accident happened in front of his family's home. Penland's brother says they rushed out to help.

"When he hit it, he just went into shock immediately, and we had some friends over here that ran out immediately and covered him up with some sheets and tried to stop the bleeding and do what they could," Jeremiah Penland said.

He tells us that EMS rushed his brother to University Medical Center where he later died. Now, Jeremiah asks all motorcyclists to be careful.

"Just watch out for yourself, because you don't know how many people love you and just how hard it is for everybody to see you go down like that," Jeremiah Penland said.
