Monday night an autopsy of a former Hub City football player is complete.
Shealon Penland, 20, hit a parked vehicle with his motorcycle just before 2 a.m. Saturday morning. Investigators say he hit this tow truck in the 4400 block of 31st Street. EMS rushed Penland to UMC where he later died.
"I was shaking him and saying Shealon you can do this. I was just shaking him and he wouldn't wake up," said the victim's brother Bryce Penland.
Friends tell us Penland had been at a party - but was not drinking. Police say he was wearing a helmet at the time of the accident.
"We made a pack that we'd never get on the bike without our helmets, without our gear. We were always safe about it," said Shealon's best friend Aaron Hill.
The family tells us two memorial funds have been set up to help with funeral expenses. Donations can be made at any City Bank location or at Redbud Baptist Church.
NewsChannel 11 has learned funeral services are set for Thursday at 10 a.m. also at Redbud Baptist Church.
