Memorial Day Events in Lubbock

Sunday, more than 100 people took part in Lubbock's Community Memorial Day Celebration hosted by First Baptist Church to honor the military men and women and first responders of this area.

The 60-member worship choir sang patriotic music during the "Land of the Free" ceremony at Huneke Park.

 

Several Memorial Day events are planned across Lubbock on Monday, and everyone is invited to help honor our area Veterans.

Third Annual Memorial Day Veterans Appreciation and Flag Ceremony at Carillon Lifecare Communities with Mayor Tom Martin.

* Bell tower at 4002 16th Street.

* Monday at 9 a.m.

Following the ceremony, Veterans will display memorabilia from their days in the service. 

 

Resthaven Memorial Service.

* Resthaven Cemetery

* Monday at 10 a.m.

Musical artist, Russ Murphy, will sing the National Anthem as well as "Welcome Home, Soldier" - which is his hit single honoring America's military personnel.

 

City of Lubbock Cemetary to Host Sixth Annual Memorial Day Service.

* Monday at 10 a.m.

Everyone is invited to the ceremony. Judge Sam Medina will give the invocation, and City Councilman Floyd Price will be the featured speaker.

If you have a loved one who was a vet, you're encouraged to place an American flag on their gravesite. Seating is limited, but you are welcome to bring a blanket or a lawn chair.
