This week a college baseball legend said goodbye to coaching.
By now you've heard Texas Tech Coach Larry Hays announced his retirement Monday. Now I could spout off all of his coaching accomplishments such as 1,509 wins, two Southwest Conference championships, two Big 12 championships and much more. Yes, it's true Larry Hays had a very successful career on the baseball diamond. But consider this, I suspect it was the impact he had on the lives of his players off the field they'll remember most.
Not only is Coach Hays great at baseball, he did everything with dignity and class and that will be something his many players will take with them far after the trophies and titles fade.
So congratulations Coach Hays on a wonderful career and more importantly, on the life lessons you passed along to so many for 38 years.
