The Dallas Stars re-signed defenseman Sami Helenius and agreed to terms with a pair of free agents on Wednesday. Terms of the one-year contracts were not released. The 28 year-old Helenius, from Helsinki, Finland, played in 39 games for the Stars last season.
Aaron Downey, a 27 year-old right wing, had one goal in 36 games with the Chicago Blackhawks last season. Russian defenseman Alexei Komarov played in 36 games with Spartak Moscow last season. He had three goals, five assists, and 43 penalty minutes. Komarov was an eighth round draft pick by Dallas in the 1997 Entry Draft. He has played with Spartak for the past three seasons.
