Grand Opening of LaLa and Conrado Cavazos Athletic Complex

The first major development project for McAlister Park will be featured this Saturday, July 6th, with the Grand Opening of the LaLa and Conrado Cavazos Athletic Complex at 10 a.m. The public is invited to attend.

The complex is named for the long-time owners of LaLa's Restaurant in downtown Lubbock. The new facility is a showcase, first-class little league baseball venue featuring three lighted fields, each with an individual press box, shared concession stand, and restroom areas.

Fans will be sheltered in the covered seating areas and have the convenience of a large, paved parking lot. Attractive landscaping adds the finishing touches to Lubbock's newest athletic facility.

Construction of the project began last fall. It is funded by general obligation bonds that voters approved in 1999. The complex will serve as the home of the Western Little League and will host the weekly games as well as tournaments and other events.

Following the opening ceremonies, refreshments will be served. For more information, you can contact Randy Truesdell, Parks and Recreation Manager, at (806) 775-2671 or (806) 775-2687.
