A Lubbock hospital could be a step closer to keeping its doors open after filing for bankruptcy more than a week ago.
"We're very optimistic about this project. There (are) still hurdles and challenges every single day, but we're optimistic that we can get it done," Wayne Collins said.
The Dimmitt businessman says his investment group has 120 days to make a formal offer for Highland Community Hospital.
Right now, Collins awaits a court-approved management contract that will allow him to oversee the day-to-day operations of the health care facility at 50th and University.
The hospital owes more than 500 creditors more than $10 million.
