The aggravated assault trial of the college student who allegedly stabbed his girlfriend in a South Plains College parking lot is underway in Levelland.
Police arrested 24-year-old Christopher Mills after they say he attacked his, then 20-year-old, girlfriend Aerial Walden.
Witnesses say the two were arguing on the morning of March 19, 2007 when Mills went to his truck, grabbed a double-edge dagger and then allegedly stabbed Walden several times. Mills then stabbed himself twice in the throat.
In addition to the knife, police also found a black hand gun at the scene.
Aggravated assault is a first degree felony. If he is found guilty, Mills faces 5 to 99 years in prison.
