Construction Resumes Following Partial Building Collapse - KCBD NewsChannel 11 Lubbock

Just one day after a parking facility partially collapsed in North Overton, construction workers are back on the job.

"The rest of the structure is safe," said Mike McDougal, President of McDougal Properties. "This is an active construction site, so bracing is obviously very important and so they will still make recommendations to us as to what kind of repairs need to be made."

The collapse occurred as the brakes on a crane failed, while lowering another piece into position.

Streets around the construction site at Glenna Goodacre Blvd. and Avenue X are open again. Cleanup is scheduled to begin tomorrow.

McDougal says one of the injured men is out of the hospital Wednesday, while the other continues to improve.
