Fire Investigators Search for Arsonist

Some early reports said fire investigators were looking for several arsonists. We now know they're looking for just one. And the fire investigators believe that person started a fire that happened just before midnight, on the 1900 block of Ave. N.

Newschannel 11 was on the scene moments after the fire call was announced. Fire investigators say by the time crews showed up the fire had all but burned itself out.

"On the fire departments arrival it had basically put itself out. The fuels that were used had been consumed and there was smoke throughout the house," said Assistant Fire Marshal Marlin Hamilton.

The arsonist set several fires in the house. They used the stove to catch towels on fire and in the bedroom they set the carpet on fire.

The victim was scheduled to meet with fire investigators today but wasn't able to make that meeting.
