A Hockley County jury has convicted a South Plains College student of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon.
After less than an hour, the jury found 24-year-old Christopher Mills guilty of an attack on his girlfriend. Mills stabbed 20-year-old Ariel Walden in a South Plains College parking lot in March of last year. Witnesses say he then stabbed himself twice in the throat.
Mills now faces up to life in prison. The punishment phase of the trial began Thursday, and is expected to be completed Friday.
