Saturday is World Blood Donor Day, so what better day to give the gift of life.
Les Long with United Blood Services says, "We want to ask a lot of people to come out and donate. It just happens that we are still on critical appeal right now and not able to fill all of the hospital orders. Chik-fil-A has partnered with us and they are going to give everyone that comes out a coupon for a Chik-fil-A sandwich, and we're going to give everyone a t-shirt to show that they are a life-saving hero."
UBS is still on critical appeal which means patients across the South Plains may not be able to receive blood should they need it. They say they do not have enough blood to fill all orders. Blood Donor Day is celebrated in honor of repeat donors and to encourage others to donate more than once a year.
If you would like to donate stop by the United Blood Services donor center at 48th and University, or call 741-1752 to make an appointment. All donors must be at least 17 years old, and weigh at least 110 pounds.
