The Lubbock chapter of the United Red Cross is in Childress aiding in storm relief.
Red Cross CEO Robin Raney says, "they're still connecting an assesment of Childress to see the extent of the damage. But with 80 mph winds we expected there will be a significant amount of damage and some displaced families. But this is a great opportunity to remind everyone we are in hurricane season and it is a wonderful time to talk to your workplace, your family, your care givers and make sure you have a tornado response plan."
Lubbock's Red Cross chapter sent an emergency response vehicle, water, ice, food, and volunteers to Childress Monday.
