Right now gas prices are ranging from $3.83-3.89 in Lubbock, so car dealerships are starting to offer gas incentives to help you overcome these climbing prices.
For gas, $2.99 may seem like a dream, but Spirit Chrysler Jeep is trying to make it a reality.
"It's going to save you probably 1800 to 3000 dollars a year," said Spirit Chrysler Jeep General Sales Manager Mike Guerra.
On any Chrysler or Jeep purchase, except the Jeep Wrangler, you will only pay $2.99 per gallon of gas and the dealership credits the rest on your bill, but there is a mileage maximum per year.
"12,000 miles a year, 2.99 for the gas with a major credit card, that's the only stipulation to it," said Guerra.
Gene Messer Ford is also giving away free fuel for the summer on trucks, SUVs, and crossovers. If you buy a new car, they will reimburse you for four months with gas gift cards up to 1000 miles a month.
"Everything is just going high, gas, food, bills everything," said one Lubbock man.
The dealerships recognize people are suffering, which is why so many are offering gas incentives.
Pollard Ford is giving away gas cards with each vehicle purchase this weekend only.
But what if you aren't in the market for a new car? A cheaper gas alternative could be a reality in Lubbock very soon.
United Supermarkets spokesperson Eddie Owens tell us they are currently testing ethanol pumps in Canyon and Levelland and hope to have pumps in Lubbock at United gas stations in the next three months.
