Healthy Baby Devitt Born, Mom Continues Breast Cancer Battle

A Wales researcher says June 20th has the most potential for happiness based on an elaborate equation of physical, emotional and stress factors, and there's a Lubbock family who would agree.

Just more than three months ago Karin McCay introduced you to the Devitt Family in Healthwise: Brent, Christie and little Connor, with a little girl on the way.

You may recall, just after 29-year-old Christie found out she was pregnant she was also told she had stage three breast cancer.

While that battle continues, there is good news to pass along.

Christie's now the proud mom of two.

Laney Grace Devitt was born at 2:50 p.m. Friday. She is 6 lbs. 10 oz and 20 inches long. Both mother and baby are doing great.

But, Christie will soon begin a tougher fight against cancer.

Doctors have been waiting for Laney's arrival before starting a fourth round of chemotherapy and adding radiation. We were at the hospital Friday, and Karin will continue to follow Chrisite's progress in upcoming reports.

By the way, Laney means bright light.
